Detroit (49-15-7) at Nashville (42-22-8) 8:00 pm EST
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) - Steve Yzerman's steady leadership has brought the Detroit Red Wings to the verge of another franchise milestone.
The Red Wings try to win their 50th game for just the third time in franchise history and their ninth in 11 outings Thursday when they meet the Nashville Predators.
Detroit's captain since 1986-1987, Yzerman scored his 690th career goal to tie Mario Lemieux for eight place on the all-time list in Monday's 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues. He needs four tallies to equal Mark Messier for seventh.
The Red Wings, who clinched a playoff spot with Monday's win, have a four-point lead over Dallas for first place in the Western Conference and lead Ottawa by two points in the race for the Presidents' Trophy.
Continuing its quest to wrap up home-ice advantage in the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, Nashville is fourth in the West with a four-point lead over Colorado with 10 games remaining.
Mike Sillinger scored his 26th goal and Martin Erat added his 17th for the Predators, who lost their third straight game in Tuesday's 5-3 defeat to the Phoenix Coyotes.
Nashville has the best home record in the West (27-6-1) and has a six-game home winning streak. However, Detroit posted a 3-2 win over Nashville here in their last encounter February 9.
