Anaheim at Calgary 10:00 pm EDT Western Conference quarterfinals Tied, 2-2
CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) - Every time the Calgary Flames try to take control of their quarterfinal series, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim answer right back.
Coming off the second overtime contest of the exciting series, the third-seeded Flames and sixth-seeded Mighty Ducks face off Saturday in Game Five of their best-of-seven affair.
Calgary has posted wins in Games One and Three, but each time Anaheim has responded with a victory to even the series.
The latest example of this trend was in Thursday's Game Four as the Flames entered overtime with a chance to take a stranglehold on the series. But the Ducks - who squandered a 2-0 lead in the third period - received the game-winner from defenseman Sean O'Donnell 1:36 into the extra session.
Rookie Ryan Getzlaf and Teemu Selanne scored second-period goals and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 25 saves for Anaheim, which went just 1-for-7 with the man advantage but kept Calgary to 0-for-6 with the extra skater.
The Flames tied the game behind a pair of third-period goals from captain Jarome Iginla. Miikka Kiprusoff made 27 saves and defenseman Andrew Ference collected a pair of assists for Calgary, which is trying to become the first Western Conference team to appear in back-to-back Stanley Cup finals since Dallas in 1999-00.
The teams will reunite in Anaheim for Game Six on Monday.
