Vancouver 4, Anaheim 3 (SO)

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- Brendan Morrison scored the
winning goal in the first extra round of a shootout to lift the
Vancouver Canucks to their first win of the preseason, 4-3 over the
Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night.

Henrik Sedin set up identical twin Daniel Sedin for a pair of
power-play goals, and free agent addition Jan Bulis scored his
first goal for the Canucks, who lost their first three games using
split squads on the road.

But Vancouver dressed its top-6 forwards and five of the top-six
defensemen for the first home game and new No.1 goaltender Roberto
Luongo played his first full game after leaving halfway through the
last two.

Luongo, acquired in a five-player trade that sent Todd Bertuzzi
to Florida this summer, made 23 saves in regulation and overtime,
then stopped Bobby Ryan in the last round of the shootout.

Ryan Shannon beat him on a long backhand early in the first
period, Tim Brent added a power-play goal off a scramble early in
the second, and Ryan Getzlaf tied it midway through the third,
knocking in his own rebound.

But after Shannon beat him badly on a deke in the first round of
the shootout, Luongo stopped Rob Niedermayer, Brendan Mikkelson and
Ryan to preserve his first win for the Canucks.

After using most of their best players in a 5-1 romp over the
Canucks in Anaheim Friday, the Ducks (2-2-1) left star defensemen
Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger and top forwards Teemu Selanne
and Andy MacDonald at home for Sunday s game.

Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 30 shots in regulation and overtime for
Anaheim. He also stopped Markus Naslund and Daniel Sedin in the
shootout, but was beaten by Henrik Sedin and Morrison, whose
backhand deke trickled over the goal line.
