LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Detroit Red Wings hope they will able
to find some consistent scoring on their four-game road trip.
Mathieu Schneider and Jason Williams look to lead the way for
Detroit, which tries to extend its recent dominance over the Los
Angeles Kings when the teams square off Monday.
After opening with three goals in their first two games, the Red
Wings erupted in Wednesday's 9-2 victory over the Phoenix
Coyotes. Schneider, 37, became the oldest defenseman in league
history to record a hat trick.
Detroit followed with Friday's 3-2 shootout loss to the
undefeated Buffalo Sabres. Williams scored twice to tie
Schneider for the team lead in goals (three).
Captain Nicklas Lidstrom has not netted a tally but leads the
team in points with six assists for Detroit, which is 9-0-2 in
its last 11 encounters with Los Angeles.
Playing the fifth contest of a six-game homestand, the Kings
began the campaign with a road loss to the Anaheim Ducks before
posting victories over the St. Louis Blues and the New York
However, Los Angeles comes off back-to-back 4-1 losses to the
unbeaten Dallas Stars. Raitis Ivanans scored his first career
goal in the third period Thursday and Michael Cammalleri ended
Saturday's shutout bid with 2:43 remaining.
After going 1-for-16 on the power play against the Stars, the
Kings are 5-for-45 with the man advantage this season.
