RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- They may be the reigning Stanley Cup champs, but the Carolina Hurricanes have not scored in 2007.

Carolina tries to snap a three-game losing streak Saturday in their final encounter of the campaign against the New York Islanders.

After a five-game winning streak in mid-December, the Hurricanes have dropped four of five and scored just six tallies during that stretch. The have been shutout six times this season.

Carolina failed to score on 31 shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Two nights later, the Phoenix Coyotes turned aside 29 Hurricane shots in a 2-0 win.

The Hurricanes continue to play without some of their top players. Cory Stillman is sidelined with an upper body injury and Bret Hedican is out for up to four weeks after surgery on his left ring finger.

The Islanders have dropped a season-high five straight games, including Thursday's 4-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

Mike Sillinger scored his 12th goal and added an assist and Trent Hunter netted his sixth tally for the Islanders, who outshot the Devils, 43-26.

The Islanders won the first two encounters against the Hurricanes this season before Carolina posted a 5-1 triumph on December 22.
