Anaheim is undefeated since concluding October with a loss at San Jose. In order to continue their winning stretch, the Ducks must find a way to beat the Sharks on the road.

The Ducks look for a fourth consecutive victory while trying to avoid a fifth straight loss at San Jose on Tuesday night.

Anaheim (7-7-1) beat Nashville 5-4 on Sunday for its third straight win since losing 5-2 at San Jose on Oct. 30.

"It's a big confidence builder for us to win three in a row," said Ducks defenseman Paul Mara, who scored the winner Sunday with 1.7 seconds left.

Regardless how much confidence and momentum the Ducks have built up, neither might be enough to end their struggles in San Jose.

The Ducks, 2-6 away from home, have been outscored 27-13 while losing seven of eight road games to the Sharks (6-5-1).

Anaheim could catch a break facing a San Jose team without captain Joe Thornton, who is serving the last of his two-game suspension for an illegal hit to the head of St. Louis' David Perron on Thursday. Thornton had three assists against the Ducks last month.

Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry each had a goal and an assist against the Sharks, while Teemu Selanne added two assists. Perry has an assist in four straight games while Selanne has two goals and five assists during the same span.

Though Anaheim's Saku Koivu was held without a point versus San Jose, he has three goals in his last two contests.

Jonas Hiller has 2.62 goals-against average during the Ducks' current winning streak but is 2-8-0 with a 2.44 GAA against the Sharks. He was rested in the teams' meeting last month.

After being shut out at Minnesota and St. Louis, the Sharks broke out for a 5-2 win over Tampa Bay in their first game without Thornton on Saturday.

"It had been a while since we've gotten on the board," said Patrick Marleau, who had two goals against the Lightning and one versus Anaheim. "We all kind of felt that everybody has to pick it up that much more with Joe out. We can't replace him."

It's been all or nothing for the Sharks while splitting their last six games. They've posted three 5-2 wins and been shut out in each of the three losses.

"Five seems to be the number," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said. "It's either five, or a goose egg."

Marleau has nine goals and eight assists in his last 15 games versus the Ducks, while two of Dany Heatley's six goals this season have come against Anaheim.

Antero Niittymaki could be in goal after he stopped 33 shots against Tampa Bay to improve to 5-1-1 with a 1.78 GAA. He improved to 1-0-1 with a 1.44 GAA against the Ducks after making 22 saves last month.

Antti Niemi, who helped Chicago win the Stanley Cup last season, has a 4.53 GAA while losing four straight starts for the Sharks. However, he is 1-1-0 with a 2.02 GAA versus Anaheim.
