LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Luc Robitaille and Derek Armstrong each had a goal and an assist Saturday night to lead the Los Angeles Kings past the Colorado Avalanche 3-1 in a preseason game.

The Kings, who outshot Colorado 46-21, scored twice in the third period to cap a dominating performance.

In a game that featured 31 penalties and several fights, the Kings (3-2) took advantage of Colorado's 83 penalty minutes when Armstrong scored a power-play goal with 3:11 left to put the game out of reach.

Eric Bellanger had scored the go-ahead goal at the 9:18 mark.

That was all the offense Kings goalie Roman Cechmanek needed as he stopped 20 of 21 shots for his first victory of the preseason.

After a scoreless first period, Robitaille found the back of the net 2:56 into the second. Armstrong and Mattias Norstrom assisted on the goal, Robitaille's third of the preseason.

Colorado (3-1-1) tied the game at 1 with 4:25 left in the period when Cody McCormick scored on a penalty shot.
