MONTREAL (AP) -- Marcel Hossa, Sheldon Souray and Patrice Brisebois all scored to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.

Souray, who missed all of last season because of a wrist injury, assisted on Hossa's goal 13:32 in and scored his first goal in three exhibition games at 16:33 of the second.

Brisebois scored a power-play goal 10:55 into the third and Jose Theodore made 25 saves as Montreal got its first win (1-2-0-2).

Curtis Brown scored Buffalo's goal early in the second. The Sabres fell to 1-1-0-1.

Sabres forward J.P. Dumont had to be helped off the ice by his teammates after he was cross-checked into the boards by Souray with 1:58 left in the third.

Souray was given a major penalty and a game misconduct on the play.
