EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- John Madden scored an unassisted power-play goal in the third period Saturday night to lead the New Jersey Devils to a 4-2 preseason victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Christian Berglund, Ray Giroux and Jeff Friesen also scored for the Devils, who snapped a two-game losing streak. Philadelphia, which had won three of its first four games, got goals from Jeremy Roenick and Sami Kapanen.

Madden notched the game-winner 6:34 into the third after Flyers defenseman Jeff Woywitka lost control of the puck under pressure in the Philadelphia zone.

Friesen closed out the scoring with a power-play goal with 2:37 left.

Berglund gave the Devils an early lead when he took a long lead pass from goalie Martin Brodeur and sped down the left wing to score 8:19 into the game.

Roenick, who scored the overtime winner Friday night in the Flyers 5-4 victory over the Devils, scored with 9:36 left in the first. He deflected a centering feed from Simon Gagne over Brodeur for a power-play goal. It was the first preseason goal surrendered by Brodeur after two scoreless appearances.

Giroux gave New Jersey at 2-1 lead with a short-handed goal 2:46 into the second. Kapanen deflected a pass from Justin Williams at 7:13 to pull Philadelphia even.
