Buffalo 3, Tampa Bay 2 (SO)

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Jochen Hecht scored in the 11th round of a
shootout, leading the Buffalo Sabres past the Tampa Bay Lightning
3-2 in an exhibition game Sunday.

The Sabres won the shootout 3-2. Hecht and Thomas Vanek had
second-period goals to give Buffalo a 2-1 lead. It was Vanek's
fifth goal overall.

Evgeny Artyukhin put Tampa Bay ahead 1-0 during the first period
and then tied it at 2-all with 19.4 seconds left in regulation.
John Grahame made 31 saves.

Buffalo's Martin Biron stopped 16 shots. He has won both his
starts, allowing three goals overall.

The 2004 Stanley Cup champion Lightning played without forwards
Martin St. Louis, Vincent Lecavalier, Brad Richards and Dave
Andreychuk, who were given the game off. Right wing Ruslan
Fedotenko was in the lineup for the first time since undergoing
offseason hip surgery.
