EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -- Robbie Schremp's first-period goal sent the Edmonton Oilers on their way to a 3-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes in a preseason game Tuesday night.

Edmonton (3-0) took a 1-0 lead just eight minutes in when Schremp, last season's leading scorer in the OHL, scored on a two-man advantage. He completed a perfect tic-tac-toe passing setup from Petr Sykora and Ales Hemsky.

Hemsky, the Oilers' top scorer with 77 points last season, and Sykora -- who signed as a free agent-- have quickly shown good chemistry together.

The Oilers took advantage of another two-man power play seven minutes later when Raffi Torres tipped in Sykora's point shot to make it 2-0.

Toby Petersen bolstered his case to make the Oilers roster when he scored five minutes into the second period. Petersen beat former Edmonton goalie Mike Morrison with a stick-side shot that gave the Oilers a 3-0 lead.

Phoenix (0-2) finally got on the board late in the second period when Josh Gratton slipped a shot past screened Oilers starting goalie Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers.
