OTTAWA (AP) -- Brad Brown scored early in the third period to help the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Ottawa Senators 3-1 in exhibition play Wednesday night.

Bates Battaglia and Andy Wozniewski also scored for the Maple Leafs, coming off a 4-0 loss to Buffalo on Monday night in their preseason opener. Mikael Tellqvist made 33 saves for Toronto, and free-agent newcomer Michael Peca had a pair of assists.

Mike Fisher scored for Ottawa, and Martin Gerber and Jeff Glass combined to make 27 saves for the Senators (1-1).

Ottawa's Daniel Alfredsson left in the second period for precautionary reasons after suffering a slight groin pull. Toronto defenseman Pavel Kubina, an offseason signing from Tampa Bay, also left early in the second because of a mild hip-flexor injury.
