Tampa Bay 3, Washington 2 (OT)

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Dan Boyle scored a power-play goal in overtime to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 3-2 comeback victory over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night in the exhibition opener for both teams.

Boyle beat Washington goalie Olaf Kolzig with a long shot. Marc Denis, acquired from Columbus in the offseason, made 40 saves in his Lightning debut.

Washington built a 2-0 lead on a goal from Alexander Semin just 2:20 into the first period, and another from Matt Pettinger at 12:24 in the second.

But Norman Milley cut the deficit in half 4 minutes after Pettinger's goal, poking Rob Dimaio's centering feed past Kolzig. Vincent Lecavalier tied it midway through the third on a 5-on-3 advantage, when his centering pass deflected off the skate of Washington's Brian Potheir and past Kolzig, who finished with 33 saves.
