ATLANTA (AP) -- Ilya Kovalchuk scored a power-play goal midway
through the first period and Kari Lehtonen and Johan Hedberg
combined to stop 27 shots in the Atlanta Thrashers' 1-0 exhibition
victory over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.

Kovalchuk scored unassited, beating Jason Bacashihua with a
10-foot wrist shot. Each of Kovalchuk's three goals this preseason
have been on power plays.

Lethonen, Atlanta's top goalie, made 18 saves in the first 29
minutes and Hedberg added nine saves in the final 31 to complete
the shutout.

Jason Bacashihua finished with 24 saves.

Atlanta improved to 2-1 and St. Louis dropped to 0-3.
