SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP)(AP) -- Jeremy Roenick, Devin Setoguchi and Jonathan Cheechoo scored power-play goals to help the San Jose Sharks beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-1 on Saturday night in a penalty-filled preseason game.
Dimitri Patzold stopped nine of 10 shots and the Sharks dominated the injury-depleted Canucks from start to finish, outshooting the visitors 37-10.
Cheechoo capped the scoring in San Jose's second 3-1 win in two nights with his first goal of the preseason at 7:40 of the third period.
The Sharks (3-0-1), who held a 25-5 advantage in shots after 40 minutes, took a 2-1 lead with 1:31 left in the second period during a 4-on-3 power play. Setoguchi redirected a drive from the high slot by defenseman Christian Ehrhoff past Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo.
The goal came after three fights broke out. The Sharks' Ryane Clowe and Craig Rivet came to the defense of captain Patrick Marleau, who squared off against Vancouver defenseman Nathan McIver. Clowe received two game misconducts while one each went to Rivet and Vancouver's Jeff Cowan and Alex Burrows.
The Sharks enjoyed a 12-2 edge in shots and a 4-0 advantage in power plays, but the score was tied 1-1 after the first 20 minutes.
Roenick, looking to revive his career in San Jose, scored his first goal of the preseason by beating Luongo with a high shot in front at 8:34 to convert the Sharks' first power play.
Vancouver (2-1-1), which surrendered the game's first 12 shots before finally getting its first at 17:52, scored on its only other shot of the period.
The Canucks have been hit hard by injuries just three games into the preseason. A total of 10 players, headlined by regulars Trevor Linden, Brendan Morrison, Kevin Bieksa, Sami Salo, Ryan Kessler, Willie Mitchell and Aaron Miller, are unavailable. The Sharks have no injuries.
