PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Nicklas Bergfors scored two goals to help the New Jersey Devils beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1 on Monday night.
Rod Pelley also scored for the Devils (2-2). Danny Briere scored his first goal for the Flyers (2-2.)
New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur, making his first preseason appearance, stopped all eight shots he faced in the first period.
Brodeur, who won a record 48 games in 2006-07, was replaced at the start of the second period by Frank Doyle, who went the rest of the way and turned away nine of 10 shots.
Martin Biron made 22 saves for the Flyers.
Bergfors, a rookie right wing prospect, put the Devils ahead with a shot from the top of the left circle at 7:50 of the first period. He added an empty net goal with 20.1 seconds left in the game.
Pelley scored on a power play at 7:31 of the third to put the Devils up 2-0, and Briere pulled the Flyers closer 19 seconds later.
