LOS ANGELES -- Oscar Moller scored the go-ahead goal on a power play with 1:17 remaining and had two assists, leading the Los Angeles Kings to a 6-4 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday night in a rare NHL split-squad preseason game.

Another contingent of Kings players led by Michael Handzus, Tom Preissing and recently acquired free agent center Jarrett Stoll beat the St. Louis Blues 2-1 at Kansas City's new Sprint Center on goals by Davis Drewiske and Wayne Simmonds. Los Angeles has 60 players in training camp, not counting holdout center Patrick O'Sullivan.

Back at Staples Center in their first game with new coach Terry Murray behind the bench, the Kings drew a crowd of just 8,221 fans -- 3,382 fewer than the announced turnout in Kansas City.

Goalie Jason LaBarbera stopped 13 of 17 shots over the first two periods and Daniel Taylor finished up after entering the game with the score tied at 4. Derek Armstrong scored twice, and David Meckler and Brian Boyle each had a goal and an assist for Los Angeles.

Kyle Turris and Steven Reinprecht scored power play goals for the Coyotes, who also got goals from Garth Murray and defenseman Keith Yandle.

Josh Tordjman started in net for Phoenix, stopping 15 of 19 shots before Al Montoya replaced him at 10:41 of the second period with the Coyotes trailing 4-3. Montoya, acquired along with Marcel Hossa in a five-player trade that sent Fredrik Sjostrom to the New York Rangers last February, was charged with the loss. The goalie stopped 10 of 11 shots.

Phoenix's Brett MacLean was given a hooking penalty with 2:50 left and Moller converted a rebound on the ensuing power play. Brady Murray added an empty-net goal with a second on the clock.

Armstrong put the Kings ahead 2-1 at 10:41 of the first period, batting in his own rebound after his wrist shot bounced off Tordjman's chest. His second goal gave the Kings a 4-3 lead at 7:18 left in the second, but Yandle tied it at 16:02 with an unassisted goal after skating the puck through the neutral zone and beating LaBarbera low to the glove side with a slap shot from just inside the blue line.

Boyle scored on a power play at 2:08 of the second period to give Los Angeles a 3-1 lead, but Reinprecht and Garth Murray scored exactly a minute apart to tie the score 3-all at 5:42 of the period. Reinprecht's goal came during a four-minute high-sticking penalty against Moller.

Turris opened the scoring at 1:47 of the first period on a power play, 32 seconds after Scott Parse was sent off for hooking. The Kings tied it the first time they had the man advantage, as Meckler connected from the low slot with 17 seconds left on rookie Adam Keefe's 4-minute roughing penalty.
