Madden expected to make U.S. short list

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. -- Top-rated show jumper Beezie Madden finished first at the U.S. Olympic trials Sunday with two penalty-free performances on Authentic.

Madden also won the $175,000 Cargill Grand Prix of the U.S., which ran concurrently with the final two rounds of the trials.

An official short list for the U.S. team for the Athens Olympics does not have to be released for 48 hours, Madden, from Cazenovia, N.Y., is expected to be included if her 9-year-old bay gelding ...
