Woman to try to sail solo around world against wind

LONDON -- Dee Caffari will try to become the first woman to sail solo around the world -- against the prevailing winds and currents -- in next month's Aviva Challenge.

The 32-year-old former teacher from Britain will begin her journey Nov. 20 from Portsmouth, England.

Caffari will sail a 72-foot yacht, with the circumnavigation expected to take between 120 and 170 days. She competed in last year's round-the-world Global Challenge race.
