Urs Imboden retires from Alpine racing
GENEVA -- Swiss-Moldovan skier Urs Imboden has retired from Alpine racing after a career in which his change in national affiliation prompted a rules change.
Imboden skied for Switzerland at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, finishing fifth in the slalom.
He changed nationalities in 2006 after failing to keep his place on the Swiss team, skiing for Moldova at three world championships from 2007 to 2011. He was never beaten by a Swiss racer, placing 11th, ninth and 14th.
