Guatemalan Rivero wins Miami Marathon

MIAMI -- Running in his first marathon, Luis Rivero Gonzalez of Guatemala won the Miami Marathon on Sunday.

Rivero, a professional runner for more than two years, had a time of 2 hours, 26 minutes, 14 seconds in the event that drew 25,000 runners.

"Since it was my first marathon, I went all-out from the very start," said Rivero Gonzalez, who earned his law degree from Universidad de San Carlos in Guatemala in November. "As the race went on, I continued to feel strong."
