Hungarian ex-president's plagiarism case closed
BUDAPEST, Hungary -- Former Hungarian President Pal Schmitt hopes to continue working in the Olympic movement despite a plagiarism scandal.
Schmitt resigned as Hungarian president last year after a university panel found that most of his doctoral thesis about the modern Olympics had been copied from other authors.
Schmitt, an IOC member since 1983, said in a statement Thursday that he had acted in good faith and was unaware at the time that his 1992 thesis did not meet academic standards.
