MONT VENTOUX, France -- A brief look at Sunday's 15th stage of the 100th Tour de France:
Stage: A swelteringly hot day in the picturesque Provence region on Bastille Day -- France's national day -- saw tens of thousands of fans pack the roadsides. The race's longest stage started in Givors in the Rhone wine-making region and spanned 151 miles. It ended with a grueling 13-mile ascent of the famed Mont Ventoux, where Britain's Tom Simpson collapsed and died during the 1967 Tour.
