Anton edges Kirchen in second stage for lead in Tour de Suisse

FLUMSERBERG, Switzerland -- Spain's Igor Anton took the overall lead in the 72nd Tour de Suisse on Sunday by surging to victory in the final stretch of the second stage.

Anton finished in 5 hours, 1 minute, 25 seconds, edging Kim Kirchen of Luxembourg by 6 seconds. Italy's Damiano Cunego was third in the same time as Kirchen.

The 122-mile stage started in Langnau and ended with a steep climb up the Flumserberg in eastern Switzerland.

Kirchen was second overall and Cunego third.

The nine-day race continues Monday with a 96-mile run from Flums to Gossau.
