Bossoni suspended 2 years after testing positive for EPO
ROME -- Italian cyclist Paolo Bossoni was banned for two years for doping by the Italian Olympic Committee on Wednesday.
Bossoni tested positive for EPO during the Italian championships in Bergamo on June 29 and was suspended by the Lampre team after the positive test was announced July 31.
The 32-year-old rider finished second in the Italian road race championship in 2007 and won a stage in the Spanish Vuelta in 2000.
The Italian committee also said the backup sample for Giovanni Carini tested positive for EPO. Carini failed a test after winning Italy's under-23 championship on June 28. He also could face a two-year ban.
