Jimenez tests positive for EPO
MADRID -- Spanish cyclist Eladio Jimenez has been provisionally suspended by the International Cycling Union after testing positive for EPO.
The drug was found in a doping test the 33-year-old Spanish rider took on Aug. 12, after he won the sixth stage of the Tour of Portugal for the CC Loule team.
Jimenez, who was poised to join American cycling team Rock Racing in 2010, is banned from competing until his case is heard by the Spanish cycling federation. He can ask for the "B" sample to be tested.
The former Kelme and Banesto rider won three stages at the Spanish Vuelta during his career.
