UCI: 3 steroid positives from Chile race
AIGLE, Switzerland -- The International Cycling Union says three riders including race winner Marco Arriagada have tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid stanozolol during the Tour of Chile earlier this year.
The UCI says in a statement Monday that Arriagada, fellow Chilean Jose Medina Andrade and Alfredo Lucero of Argentina have been informed of their positive tests and can now ask for their "B" samples to be tested.
The riders' samples were analyzed at the World Anti-Doping Agency's accredited laboratory in Los Angeles.
Arriagada is Chile's top cyclist and claimed his third Tour of Chile win in February. He is also a four-time national time-trial champion.
