American figure skating fans will be able to watch Skate America and the 2008-09 Grand Prix figure skating series over the Internet thanks to a deal announced by icenetwork.com on Wednesday.

"This unprecedented coverage of these prestigious ISU [International Skating Union] events illustrates the commitment of icenetwork.com to bring more skating coverage than ever before to fans of the sport around the country," David Raith, executive director of the U.S. Figure Skating Association, which co-owns icenetwork.com with MLB Advanced Media, said in a statement Wednesday.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the broadband programming agreement includes the entire Senior Grand Prix series, Skate America and the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating final.

In addition to those events, icenetwork.com will have live U.S.-only Internet coverage of the ISU Junior Grand Prix figure skating event, the 2009 European Figure Skating Championships, the 2009 Four Continents championships, the 2009 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, the 2009 World Synchronized Skating Championships and the inaugural ISU World Team trophy.

"With this new programming, we are able to give fans in the United States the opportunity to watch these great skating events like never before while providing our top athletes the opportunity to showcase their incredible talent," said Raith.
