ROTTERDAM, Netherlands -- Olympic all-around bronze medalist Benoit Caranobe has injured his right leg in the floor exercise and is out of the world championships.
France's Caranobe landed badly on a high jump in the floor exercise, immediately grabbed his right leg and pounded his fist on the mat in agony. He had to be carried off by a team official and taken away on a stretcher by medics. The first indications were a lower leg muscle injury.
After taking bronze at the Beijing Olympics, the 30-year-old all-rounder finished eighth at the world championships last year.
