Two added to Chancellor's staff
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Duke coach Gail Goestenkors and Rutgers coach C. Vivian Stringer were selected Thursday as assistants for the U.S. Olympic women's basketball team.
The selections, made by the USA Basketball women's senior national team committee, are subject to approval by the U.S. Olympic Committee. Van Chancellor of the WNBA's Houston Comets is the head coach, and three-time Olympian Anne Donovan already was picked to be an assistant.
Goestenkors, a six-time Atlantic Coast Conference coach of the year, served as an assistant on the gold medalist 2002 U.S. world championship team. Stringer returns for her sixth U.S. basketball coaching assignment.
WNBA stars Lisa Leslie, Sheryl Swoopes and Sue Bird are among the U.S. players.
