U.S. to play Russia in under-18 final
MINSK, Belarus -- The United States reached the final of hockey's under-18 world championships on Friday, beating the Czech Republic 3-2 Friday.
Bryan Lerg of Livonia, Mich., Tom Fritsche of Parma, Ohio, and Phil Kessel of Madison, Wis., scored for the United States in the semifinal. It was the fifth straight win for the Americans. Michal Gulasi and Jan Danecek scored for the Czechs.
The U.S. will play for the title Sunday against Russia, which beat Canada 5-2 in the other semifinal.
