Devine wins women's single sculls
WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- Jennifer Devine advanced to the Olympic Qualification Regatta by winning the women's single sculls at the Non-Qualified Olympic Small Boat Trials on Lake Mercer on Saturday.
Devine, who finished ninth in women's double sculls at the 1996 Olympics, won her second straight trial race in a time of 7:36.46 to advance to the qualification regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland, on June 13-16.
Also advancing with their second wins were Ala Piotrowski and Carol Skricki in the women's double sculls, and Steve Tucker and Greg Ruckman in the lightweight men's double sculls.
In men's singles sculls, Conal Groom beat Adam Holland by .24 seconds to force a deciding third race between the two on Sunday morning.
