Pelletier surprises Sale with ring
EDMONTON -- Canadian Olympic figure skaters Jamie Sale and David Pelletier are engaged.
Pelletier surprised Sale with an engagement ring on Christmas Day, sending her on a treasure hunt through their Edmonton home to find it. The couple plan to wed next year, between Christmas and New Year's.
"We want a winter wedding, before we go on tour," Sale told Canadian Press on Wednesday. "We think that would be beautiful."
In the pairs competition, Sale and Pelletier were declared joint gold-medal winners with Russia's Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze following a judging scandal at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
Sale and Pelletier leave Thursday for shows in Japan, and begin a U.S. tour in Seattle on Jan. 4.
