Seven players return from bronze medal team
Miller, of the Los Angeles Kings, is one of seven players returning from the squad that won bronze at last year's worlds.
Joining him are: Ty Conklin of the Edmonton Oilers, Hal Gill of the Boston Bruins, Andy Roach of the St. Louis Blues, Matt Cullen of the Carolina Hurricanes, Jeff Halpern of the Washington Capitals and Richard Park of the Minnesota Wild.
In all, 19 of the 20 players on the roster are from the NHL, which had its season canceled amid a labor dispute. Three roster spots will be filled later. The 16-team world championships begin April 30, but the U.S. opens May 1 in Innsbruck, Austria, against Slovenia.
Among the other players selected: At forward, Erik Cole of the Carolina Hurricanes, Brian Gionta of the New Jersey Devils, Mike Knuble of the Philadelphia Flyers, David Legwand of the Nashville Predators and Mark Parrish of the New York Islanders.
In goal: Rick DiPietro of the New York Islanders and Tim Thomas of the AHL's Providence Bruins.
Carolina coach Peter Laviolette returns for his second year as head coach, while John Tortorella of the Tampa Bay Lightning is associate coach.
