Foot injury forces Crawford off U.S. relay team
HELSINKI, Finland -- A foot injury will keep Shawn Crawford off the U.S. 400-meter relay team at the world track and field championships, men's coach John Smith said Wednesday.
Crawford earlier withdrew from the 200 and was last in his semifinal heat of the 100 on Sunday.
He was the gold medalist in the 200, bronze medalist in the 100 and part of the silver medal-winning 400 relay team at the Athens Olympics last year, but has barely trained this season because of a bruised left foot.
The 400 relay qualifying heats are Friday, with the semifinals and finals Saturday.
