U.S. water polo hires Pacific's Brown as assistant
LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. -- Ryan Brown, former coach of the women's water polo team at the University of Pacific, will join the U.S. men's national team as a full-time assistant coach next month.
"Ryan is a very organized, energetic young coach," national team head coach Rick Azevedo said in a statement issued Tuesday. "He has done a wonderful job at Pacific and we are very pleased with the way he will complement the rest of our staff."
As part of his responsibilities, Brown will serve as the men's goalie coach. He was an All-American goalkeeper at Pacific.
Brown coached the Pacific women from 2002-05. His teams went 28-94, but set a school record with 11 wins this year.
Brown will join part-time assistant coach Terry Schroeder and team leader Takeshi Inoue on the national team's staff.
