Manninen extends lead in overall World Cup standings
OBERHOF, Germany -- Hannu Manninen of Finland relied on cross-country skiing to win his fourth World Cup event in the Nordic combined Friday and stretch his overall lead in the standings.
Manninen beat Ronny Ackermann of Germany by 7.2 seconds at the finish of the 15-kilometer cross-country race.
The Finn trailed Ackermann by nearly a half-second after two ski jumps at the start of the race. Ackermann was 13th after the jumping and Manninen 18th.
Defending champion Manninen now has 519 points.
Magnus Moan of Norway was third Friday and is second overall at 350 points. Ackermann is third with 337 points.
