Kircheisen captures Nordic combined sprint event


OSLO, Norway -- Bjorn Kircheisen of Germany won a World Cup
Nordic combined sprint event Sunday, finishing the 7.5-kilometer
freestyle cross-country race in 18 minutes, 55.1 seconds.

Earlier, he placed ninth in the ski jumping portion. He had the
fifth fastest ski time.

Magnus Moan of Norway was second, 3.7 seconds back, and Anssi
Koivuranta of Finland was third.

Hannu Manninen, another Finn who has already clinched his third
straight overall title, was 13th.

With two events left, Manninen has 1,320 points in the overall
standings, followed by Moan with 875, and Kircheisen with 758.
