Canada shuts out U.S. women's under-22 hockey team
OTTAWA -- Canada shut out the United States for the second straight game, winning 2-0 on Sunday to capture the under-22 women's hockey series two games to one.
Hayley McMeekin opened the scoring for Canada and Sarah Vaillancourt added a late empty-netter. Goaltenders Shannon Szabados and Laura Hosier combined to stop 25 shots for the shutout.
The U.S. won the opener 2-1 in overtime Thursday. Canada won 6-0 on Friday on goals by six players.
