Poiree picks up 42nd World Cup biathlon win
LAHTI, Finland -- Raphael Poiree won the 10-kilometer sprint event Saturday for his 42nd career World Cup biathlon victory.
Poiree, who is retiring at the end of this season, finished in 24 minutes, 39.0 seconds. He missed one target.
It was the 32-year-old Frenchman's second win in Lahti in three days. He won the 20K event Thursday.
Alexander Os and Hans Martin Gjedrem of Norway were second and third. Both shot clean.
Michael Greis of Germany finished fifth and increased his lead in the overall standings to 67 points over Ole Einar Bjorndalen of Norway.
Bjorndalen, the four-time defending champion, is competing in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Japan.
Poiree advanced to third overall, 11 points behind Bjorndalen.
