Ex-NBA center Seikaly tries to qualify for AVP event
MIAMI -- Former Miami Heat center Rony Seikaly is following in the footsteps of multisport stars Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders and Michael Jordan.
He is attempting to qualify for the AVP Cuervo Gold Crown Miami Open pro beach volleyball tournament this weekend, which reserves a handful of berths for open qualifiers. The 6-foot-11 Seikaly played 11 years in the NBA.
"I'm hoping the size, soft hands and good feet that served me well on the basketball court will translate to the sand," Seikaly said.
