USA misses at charity stripe in title game loss to Serbia
The United States' inability to hit free throws cost them in the FIBA U19 World Championship gold medal game against Serbia on Sunday.
Team USA (8-1) missed 13 free throws (11-for-24) in the 74-69 loss to Serbia (8-1) to settle for silver. France (6-3) won the bronze medal by beating Brazil (4-5), 75-67.
Deon Thompson finished as the United States' leading scorer for the second straight game with 16 points. The Americans trailed 43-30 at halftime.
Mladen Jeremic led Serbia with 24 points, while tournament MVP Milan Macvan finished with 19.
