German riding federation wants longer doping ban for equestrian Ahlmann
FRANKFURT, Germany -- The German riding federation wants a longer doping ban for Christian Ahlmann, whose horse tested positive during the Beijing Olympics.
The four-month ban handed down Wednesday by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) was "too mild," the German federation said Thursday. It plans to appeal the case to sport's highest court and will not nominate Ahlmann for any events over the next two years.
Ahlmann's horse, Coster, tested positive for capsaicin, a banned pain relief medication derived from chili peppers.
