British Cycling: Bellis doing well
LONDON -- British Cycling says Jonny Bellis could soon return home, almost six weeks after he was seriously injured in a scooter crash in Italy.
Bellis has been treated in a hospital in Florence since crashing near his training base on Sept. 19. He was kept in an induced coma for more than three weeks.
British Cycling says Bellis is doing well and "communicating by writing messages."
Bellis, the youngest participant in the Olympic road race last year, won a bronze medal in the under-23 world road championships in 2007.
The 21-year-old cyclist is with Danish team Saxo Bank.
