U.S.-Spain rematch of gold-medal game
DALLAS -- The United States will face Spain in an exhibition game, their first meeting since the Americans won the gold medal at the 2008 Bejing Olympics.
The exhibition game in August was announced Friday by USA Basketball and the Spanish Basketball Federation. The game will take place in Spain on a date to be determined before both teams travel to Turkey for the world championships.
The Americans beat Spain 118-107 to win Olympic gold, pulling away after leading by four with less than 2½ minutes to play.
USA Basketball announced this week that nine players from that team are in the roster pool for the world championships and the 2012 Olympics.
