Danny Granger injures finger
NEW YORK -- Danny Granger injured his right ring finger during the final scrimmage of a three-hour practice Tuesday on Team USA's first full day of training camp, the latest instance of adversity to strike the U.S. national team.
"He dislocated the bone, but he said he put it right back, and he says he feels he'll be all right," coach Mike Krzyzewski said following the practice at John Jay University.
Team USA: Warmup Games
Here's Team USA's remaining schedule of exhibitions leading up to the 2010 FIBA men's basketball championship slated for Aug. 28-Sept. 12 in Istanbul, Turkey:

Playing defense, Granger was going up to contest a shot when he jammed his hand against the underside of the rim. He immediately ran off the court clutching his hand and sought treatment from the team's athletic trainer, Casey Smith. Krzyzewski quickly went over the check on him, and Granger spent the final moments of practice sitting behind the scorer's table, his hand wrapped in ice.
"We'll find out what I did," Granger said. "It feels fine now, it's numb."
The way the injury happened was somewhat similar to what befell David Lee on the team's first day of minicamp in Las Vegas last month. In that instance, Lee jammed his hand against the bottom of the backboard while trying to block a shot and dislocated his finger, sidelining him for four to six weeks and knocking him off the U.S. roster.
"Hopefully it's not that. We'll see," said Granger, who was scheduled to have the finger X-rayed after practice.
The Indiana Pacers swingman was the NBA's eighth-leading scorer last season, averaging 24.1 points per game.
Aside from Lee, Team USA has already lost big men Amare Stoudemire because of a contract insurance issue and Brook Lopez, who is recovering from a bout with mononucleosis that caused him to lose 20 pounds.
With 15 players in camp, Granger is believed to be one of the players on the bubble to make the final 12-man roster that must be submitted 48 hours before the start of the World Championship in Turkey on Aug. 26.
"Granger will be hard to keep off this team because of his scoring ability, he's a veteran, he's 6-8, he knows how to play," team director Jerry Colangelo said. "So if he can stay healthy, he's got a great chance to be a part of it."
The team will practice here through Saturday before facing France on Sunday in its first exhibition game. The Americans leave Monday for Spain and the remainder of a tough pre-tournament schedule that includes games against defending world champion Spain, Greece and Lithuania.
"We're starting to push now," Krzyzewski said.
