Missing gear forces postponement
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A pre-World Junior Hockey Championship tournament exhibition game between the Czech Republic and Germany has been pushed back one day to Thursday due to lost luggage.
It's unclear when the German team's equipment will arrive from Europe. USA Hockey executive Jim Johannson spent part of Tuesday assisting the Germans in purchasing new equipment in Rochester.
Sweden and Norway have experienced similar problems.
Norway's game against Slovakia on Tuesday in Jamestown, N.Y., was pushed back a day. USA Hockey spokesman Dave Fischer said the bulk of Norway's equipment has arrived.
Sweden purchased new equipment to play its game against Canada in Toronto on Tuesday.
The tournament opens in Buffalo on Sunday.
