Jamie Beyerle in line for Olympic spot
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- American Jamie Beyerle, the world's top-ranked 3-position rifle shooter, has qualified for the 2012 Olympics.
USA Shooting says Beyerle, of Lebanon, Pa., will compete in her second straight Olympics in that event, pending formal approval of her nomination by the U.S. Olympic Committee. Beyerle finished fifth in the 3-position competition at Beijing in 2008.
USA Shooting uses a points system for awarding Olympic nominations, based on ISSF World Cups and World Championships.
Beyerle won gold at a World Cup in Fort Benning, Ga., in May, shortly before her 27th birthday.
