Heil, Bilodeau win freestyle moguls titles
WEST VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Canadians Jennifer Heil and Alexandre Bilodeau won the World Cup freestyle moguls on Cypress Mountain on Saturday night.
Heil took the gold in the women's competition with 24.79 points. Hannah Kearney of the United States was second at 24.18 and Margarita Marbler of Austria third at 23.84.
"Every race I can feel my feet more underneath me," Heil said. "I can really feel the potential of what I've been changing to go faster, to ski smoother and to jump higher.
"For me today it was a great performance and I know what I can do to improve it."
The moguls competition concluded a successful weekend for the Canadian freestyle team, which picked up five of a possible six golds and eight of a total of 18 medals in the three disciplines of ski cross, aerials and moguls.
Bilodeau earned his first World Cup victory since February 2006, scoring 25.65 points in the men's final. Yugo Tsukita of Japan was second at 25.09 and Guilbaut Colas of France third at 24.78.
