Kass fined $370 for careless driving
WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- Two-time Olympic snowboard silver medalist Danny Kass was fined $370 on Tuesday after being charged with careless driving.
Kass, 27, drove a van fitted with snow chains up the crowded main ski trail at the Cardrona Alpine Resort near Queenstown on Aug. 17, New Zealand's The Press newspaper reported Wednesday. Kass planned to use the vehicle in a photo shoot, the court heard.
The Portland, Ore., native was initially charged with endangering public safety, but police reduced the charge to one of careless driving. He won silver medals in the snowboard halfpipe at the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics.
